Samuel Griffiths Hadley
|
Samuel Griffiths Hadley was born in 1843 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. He married Louisa Field and had two children, Flora (who died as an infant) and Samuel.
When Louisa and her family joined the Latter-day Saints Church in England, he refused to accept the same gospel and did not approve of Louisa’s joining. He wanted nothing to do with their crazy scheme to leave England and sail to America. Louisa took her two-year-old son and sailed to America without her husband. Samuel Griffiths Hadley never contacted them again. He never knew Louisa had died. However, a marriage license in England, where Samuel Griffiths Hadley and Louisa Field had been married, was located. A second marriage license showing that Samuel Griffiths Hadley remarried to Sarah Cumming in 1878. It was also learned that he had been a pyrotechnic (firework artist) and had lost a thumb. |
