OBITUARY

Saturday 25 May 1901: Death of S. C. Watson Mrs. Rhoda Smyth will leave next Wednesday for Mountain View, Canada, where she will remain about a month. One week ago last Tuesday, Bro. C. C. Watson, her only brother, who removed there with his family three years ago, passed away, and the sad intelligence was a severe blow to her and family in this city. Deceased was born in England, March 14th 1844, and emigrated to Utah in 1881, locating in Salt Lake City, where he was an employee of the Oregon Short Line Railway company as car oiler, for fifteen years. Brother Watson, while living in the metropolis, was a member of the 16th and Center Wards, in good standing, and he together with his large family, a wife and nine children had the reputation of being faithful Latter-day Saints. He was 57 years of age at the time of his death and has had poor health for several years; he passed away suddenly. Funeral services were held at the Mountain View meeting house May 7th. |
