John James had three marriages. His first was to Clara Marie Welch on 25 October 1897 in Wilkinson County, Mississippi. The second marriage took place 17 December 1899 to Katherine "Katie" DeLee McGraw. Fourteen children were born to this marriage, nine sons and five daughters. His home was located about two miles east of Liberty on the old Gillsburg Road (just across the road from where Carl Blalock's home is now). Originally he was buried about five miles east of Liberty but later exhumed, and his remains were buried in the Blalock Cemetery. |
