Dorothy Mae Blalock Hadley was born in Liberty, Amite, Mississippi in a small farm house about two miles southeast of the town. She was born April l5, l929 to Willie Cleveland and Nora Lee Plemmons Blalock and was their first-born child of nine. Her father was born July 13, l910 in Liberty, Amite, Mississippi to John James Blalock and Katherine (Kattie) DeLee McGraw Blalock. Her mother, Nora Lee Plemmons, was born September 6, l912 in Centreville, Amite, Mississippi, the daughter of Roy Verlon and Minnie May McKey Plemmons.
Dorothy came to Utah in March 1949 and married Ralph H. Hadley on April 1st of that year. Michael Ralph, her oldest son, was born while they lived at 591 8th St. in Ogden, Utah. He was born August 15, 1950, at the old Thomas D. Dee Hospital on 24th and Harrison Blvd, Ogden, Weber, Utah. The remaining four children, Ralph Lowell, Diane, Richard Lynn, and Dale Mark were also born there. In February 1951, when they moved to Roy at 2946 W. 6000 S. (the old Hadley home), Mike was six months old. In 1961 they moved next door to 2910 W. 6000 S. where she died 39 years later. Her interests included reading, serving her family, and serving in the church. She was talented in cooking, canning, sewing, quilting, family history, and many domestic activities. |
